Johnson Blasts Oaks, Bells Take Game 5, 12-1
The Mission Bells have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Oakland Oaks, winning 12-1 at Recreation Park today. Bells first baseman Heavy Johnson was named player of the game after he went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. The win cuts the deficit facing the Bells to 3-2 in the best-of-7 Governor's Cup Series.

It could have been a different outcome for Mission, had it not been for Mart?n Dihigo, the 21-year old second baseman . Dihigo contributed a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to put Mission up, 4-1.

"I felt we were ready to go," said Mission manager Mike Heath. "Our pregame was pretty good."

The next game is set to be played on Wednesday, October 6th, 1926 at Oaks Park. The scheduled starters for the game are Herman Pillette for the Bells and Art Delaney for the Oaks.
