Stars Collect 2-1 Win Over Beavers
|
The Hollywood Stars picked up a win at Vaughn Street Park, taking down the Portland Beavers, 2-1. Starting pitcher Leon Day was a big reason why. Day picked up the win for Hollywood, going 9 innings. He gave up 1 run on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 4-3. Wayne Osborne recorded the save, his 1st.
Hollywood used the clutch hitting of Martín Dihigo to capture the win. The center fielder drilled a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Stars ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
Dihigo told the Hollywood Daily News: "Win or lose, I don't want to see our team outhustled."
Hollywood is 19-22 and Portland, with the loss, 19-22.
