Bankhead Razor-Sharp, Shuts Out Cincinnati Monday, June 30th, 1941 Dan Bankhead shut out the Cincinnati Reds 6-0 on a 6-hit masterpiece for the Chicago Cubs at Crosley Field today. "He was kind of teasing them with his off-speed stuff, and his fastball was moving everywhere," Chicago skipper said afterward. Bankhead registered 11 strikeouts and issued 3 walks in pitching a gem. "We just didn't swing the bats very well. Or else he just pitched good, whichever way you want to look at it," said Cincinnati manager after the defeat.
