Rising Star--Bankhead Shines as Top Rookie Tuesday, July 1st, 1941 For a young man just making his way into the National League, Dan Bankhead has shown incredible poise and confidence over the past month, netting him the coveted Rookie of the Month Award. In June he fashioned a 5-2 mark and a 1.72 ERA. The Chicago starter struck out 44 in 62.2 innings as he walked 20 and held opposing batters to a .235 average. This season-to-date, Bankhead has fashioned a 10-6 mark and 2.62 ERA in 137.1 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .241 against him and he has logged 91 strikeouts. |
